A beautiful effort from Alain Vauthier, the 2001 Moulin St.-Georges is performing better from bottle than it did from cask. Almost as good as the 2000, it boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as a style reminiscent of its renowned sibling, Ausone. Aromas of minerals, acacia flowers, and black raspberries are found in this well-delineated, medium-bodied offering.

Medium ruby-red. Aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, espresso and dark chocolate. Supple, sweet and fruit-driven; in a pliant style but supported by a firm mineral component. This has lovely fat and volume for the vintage. Finishes with broad, dusty tannins and lingering sweetness of fruit.
