Description

Château La Fleur de Gay is a special cuvée produced by Château La Croix de Gay from a parcel of clay-gravel soil that lies close to Pétrus and Lafleur. It made its début in 1982, though the first true vintage was in 1983. The early vintages contained a small amount of Cabernet Franc; however, it was soon replaced by 100% Merlot. These Merlot vines are the oldest owned by La Croix de Gay, and many are around 50 years old. The wine is vinified in 2 concrete vats that vary in size. Once the wine is finished fermenting, it is then aged in 100% new French oak barrels for approximately 18 months. In certain years, it can be quite a decadent, sumptuous wine, full of sweet fruit and velvety tannins.

Ma meilleure note donnée à ce cru en primeur. Couleur noire et pourpre. Nez intense, fin, fruité, subtil, avec une touche de framboise et une note de crème. Ultra minutieux à l’attaque, très savoureux, fondant, aérien, avec de l’éclat dans le goût et un corps tout en velours, le vin s’achève long, suave et incrachable. Wahou ! Bravo ! Un 100 % merlot avec une grande tenue.

Pourpre violacé. Bouquet invitant, aux notes fruitées et florales. Nuances d’iris et de myrtilles. Touche confite et effluves de bois de réglisse. Attaque friande. Caractère charmant et équilibré en bouche. Les tannins sont bien intégrés et la structure soutient idéalement l’expression aromatique jusqu’en fin de bouche.

The deep ruby/purple-hued 2018 Château La Fleur De Gay is another sweetly fruited, sexy, yet also elegant Pomerol that does everything right. Possessing a rockingly good bouquet of smoky black fruits, cassis, toasted spice, and jam-covered toast, it’s medium to full-bodied, balanced, and has a terrific mouthfeel and finish.
